- CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR) will host its fifth annual West Virginia Archery in the Schools (AIS) Program State Tournament at the Charleston Civic Center on Saturday, March 27, 2010, according to DNR Director Frank Jezioro. This year’s tournament should be the single largest indoor youth archery tournament in the history of the state with 540 students participating, representing 41 West Virginia schools. - CASS. W.Va. – Cass Scenic Railroad State Park will be hosting a photography workshop featuring national award winning photographer Clayton Spangler from Friday, June 11 through Sunday, June 13. Instruction will be available for all skill levels, and early registration is recommended for the limited number of spots available. - HINTON, W.Va. – With Spring Gobbler Season in West Virginia beginning April 26, Bluestone State Park in Summers County has “called up” some reduced rental cabin rates for park guests and hunters alike. From April 26 – May 22, Bluestone is offering 20 percent off mid-week cabin rental rates. - SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Section (DNR) will hold its next Archery in the Schools (AIS) Program instructor training April 20-21 at the Gander Mountain Store in South Charleston, according to Jerry Westfall, DNR’s AIS Program Coordinator. - SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Regardless of entrance, lion or lamb, March is here. This was a bit higher than the 2008 seasons’ donation total (1,149). - PIPESTEM, W.Va. – Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at Pipestem Resort State Park Saturday, March 13, with “The Earl of Elkview and the O’Daugherty Family Singers” along with special guest Buddy Griffin and some new additions to the group. Pipestem Resort and The Southern West Virginia Irish Heritage Festival group have arranged entertainment and activities for this annual weekend event. - ANSTED, W.Va. – A jazz performance by “Stolen Moments” will be the featured entertainment March 6 at the next dinner theater event at Hawks Nest State Park. The musicians are members of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. - ANSTED, W.Va. – The Parks and Recreation Section of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources will be conducting an in-person, public comment "Open House" at Hawks Nest State Park Lodge from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 8. State Park representatives will be at the Lodge's main meeting room during that period to meet with any interested citizens and discuss the state's possible cancellation of the Hawks Nest golf course lease. The public may attend at any time during open house. - CAIRO, W.Va. – Girlfriends, mothers, daughters, aunts and sisters - North Bend State Park has created a weekend to get away, just for women.
